I read your article with interest. having started my level 4 this year it is great to read about detachment and how different issues can cause this to occur.

Self awareness is one criteria that continues to grow and be useful to detect, work and measure the journey and the experience achieved.

I am in agreement that the pea analogy carries great weight and truth.
This counselling journey is continuing to be a fascinating one with surprises, learning and the chance to witness how I am today and conversely how others have been with change and HOW WE ALL DEAL WITH IT.

Not necessarily, but I do think it could be the first step towards her experiencing a relationship where genuine trust is evolving. I think it is also important that she learns who is worthy of her trust, but that will require further understanding of her ‘self-worth’.

All singing, all dancing once more… that’s good to hear… It is also good to follow your weekly blogs and watch how you see yourself develop through your experiences; some good and some not so good? I have also found myself analysing and exploring my own reactions; so much so that I was even thinking ‘I wonder why, she wondered why she wasnt shocked!’ These courses certainly are a good source of reflection hahaha..

Oh I get so nervous when I have to do triads. I feel its all so fake. I cant go with the flow as I usually would. I find it difficult to use the tools within such a short period of time, with others watching me!

But I can also relate to the good feeling of progress. Its nice when hard work pays off.

Hello – I’m on the L3 Counselling Studies course. I remember a similar lesson on this too when I was doing the L2 course last year.

Isn’t it amazing what you can find out very quickly through a little reflection and group work with the “Johari Window”?

This is something that amazed me about the whole L2 course. Perhaps it was also as I entered into the course rather blindly as I wanted to do something completely different to what I do in my work (IT).

I found it an amazing journey and I feel a more informed and self aware person for having been on the course. Enjoy every moment!

hello and thank you i have just finished my depolma and remember feeleng exactly how you are feeling right now, just please be careful that the challenges at college can have a big imac on placement. the journey to the end is so like treacle but an amazing and character building process like no other. GOOD LUCK and keep on going

.. thank you for that, it is good to hear from someone on their last leg of the journey, sounds like you are putting a lot of time and effort in; wading through the treacle, juggling well and reaping the rewards from your clients. I will be interested to follow your experiences in the next chapter… I also think it will be of help to get a better insight of what lies ahead for those of us bringing up the rear?

Good luck on your journey, I am sure you will enhance your grey matter enormously along the way! I have just started a course with CPCAB in September and I have to say that they provide a lot more learning tools than my previous examining board; I hope to gain insight from other trainees on this site… I have yet to experience the tutors presence in the triads; I wonder how I will react?

I’m pleased to see that someone has started a blog about this subject. I’m 7 weeks in to the first term of my Counselling Certificate at Barry College and can identify with a lot of what you just said. It’s nice to see that you have no reservations about being the helper in triad work, it’s my biggest fear!!
