| Course length: | 120 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) (minimum). |
| Minimum age: | 19 years*. However, please see CPCAB candidate entry requirements section 5 of the CBT-L5 Information Summary. *This age requirement is linked to Ofqual’s system for categorising qualifications. |
| Entry requirements: | Candidates must have completed the CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (TC-L4) or an equivalent qualification of at least 420 GLH. |
| Progression: | Successful candidates may progress onto CPCAB’s:
*To access the OU Foundation Degree, candidates need to have completed TC-L4 and be working on either CBT-L5 or our Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (PC-L5). |
| Assessment: | Candidate Portfolio and externally assessed Case Review (3,000 3,500 words). Candidates must be proficient in both internal and external assessment to receive the qualification. |
| Additional study time: | Approx. 30 hours over the life of the course. |
| Personal counselling or therapy (for trainee): | None required. |
| Client work requirements | Opportunity to work with at least 3 clients using the CBT model. |
| Supervision requirements | The course must include group training supervision in addition to the candidate’s own supervision arrangements for their external work as per BACP/BABCP minimum requirements. |
| Staffing and other resources: | One tutor-assessor is required for the internal assessment of CBT-L5 candidates. Tutors must be qualified CBT practitioners with current knowledge and experience. See section 4 of the Information Summary. |
| Internal moderation and verification: | Centres are required to have robust internal moderation and verification processes which are externally verified by CPCAB. |
| CPCAB candidate registration fee: | £199 per candidate. |
| Centre application for CPCAB approval to offer the qualification: | Centre application fee: £199 (one-off fee) All courses must be submitted to CPCAB for approval before candidates can be registered. Although the delivery of course may differ from centre to centre, all delivery must enable candidates to achieve the learning outcomes specified in the units. |
