The QCA's Qualification Accreditation Number for CSU-L4 is 100/5038/3. The QCA Accreditation Number also appears in the Learning & Skills Council's on-line Learning Aims Database (which can be used to ascertain funding eligibility), except there it is called the “Learning Aim Number”. |

| Target candidates: | This qualification is for learners who have already obtained CPCAB's Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Counselling Skills (CSK-L3) - or its APL and/or APEL equivalent - and want to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes needed to supervise helpers who are using counselling skills in their work. The concepts and information provided will relate to a range of professional helping relationships within health and social care contexts.
Candidates must:
Note that the supervisory role will normally be only one aspect of the participant's job, although the skills learned will be applicable to a wide range of professional relationships within organisations. |

| Assessment: | Candidate Portfolio and externally-assessed Case Review (2,500 -3,000 words).
Candidates must pass both the internal and external assessment to receive the qualification. |
| Additional study time: | Approx 4 hours per week. |
| Personal counselling or therapy (for trainee): | None required. However personal counselling is recommended for those with no experience of this. |
| Supervisory work requirements: | Opportunity to effectively apply and develop the learning covered by the course units. Minimum of 15 hours supervising helpers. |
| Supervision Requirements: | CPCAB requires a minimum of 10 hours of Group Training Supervision to be provided by the Training Centre as part of the course. In addition to this, participants need five hours one-to-one supervisory supervision. One-to-one supervision should encompass contracting, assessment and closing sessions. |
| Staffing and other resources: | At least two tutor-assessors must be involved in all aspects of internal candidate assessment.
Staffing and other resources must reflect the Band C Programme Weighting factor available for this qualification. |
| Internal moderation and verification: | Centres are required to have robust internal moderation and verification processes which are externally verified by CPCAB. |
