About this DVD

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is supported by research studies that give it a strong evidence base for its successful use within a variety of settings. As a National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended intervention within the field of mental health it has been central to the application of Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) in the UK.

This film demonstrates how the theory and skills of CBT can be successfully applied in counselling practice. The film takes you through several sessions with a roleplayed client presenting with anxiety. After each session counsellor Caroline Waite identifies and discusses with Stuart Rose the CBT skills being used. This is done by reference to the video clip and rationale in the context of therapeutic aims. At the end of the video the client reflects on the process and comments on the success of her personal application of CBT.

This film is an excellent resource for students and tutors alike. In particular it is designed for counsellors refreshing their skills, those that are enrolled on a CBT course or those considering enrolling on a course incorporating CBT. Tutors will find it a valuable resource for demonstrating CBT theory and skills in action.
