CPCAB (Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) is a UK awarding body that is managed by professional counsellors, trainers and supervisors. Now in our 25th year of operation, we are the only awarding body in Europe to specialise in the field of counselling.
In the following video Dr Anthony Crouch, CPCAB's Chief Executive, talks about events which led to the creation of CPCAB. Filmed on location on the Greek islands of Ios, Santorini and Folegandros, the 15 minute film features Anthony recounting an experience that led him to become a counselling trainer and later form CPCAB, the only awarding body to specialise in counselling and psychotherapy.
The history of CPCAB
From our beginnings in 1993 CPCAB has grown to become the UK's leading specialist awarding body in counselling and life coaching. Forming part of the Counselling and Psychotherapy Services Group (CPS) we now offer vocational qualifications in over 130 training centres throughout the UK and overseas with over 11,000 candidates registering with us each year.
In addition to qualifications we also produce a number of assessment and training DVDs in basic counselling skills and common life and developmental problems.
In part, this success is based on our commitment to developing competent counsellors - we are the only awarding body run by counsellors for counsellors. This practical experience of counselling gives us a unique ability to design and support vocational qualifications in this and related fields.
