Team

We’re delighted to welcome two new members to the Counselling Qualifications Professional team — Natalie and Maggie! They will soon be reaching out to their assigned centres, in the meantime, they’d love to share a few thoughts with you.

  • Maggie King

Hi I’m Maggie – I’m a qualified counsellor working in private practice. I have experience working with adults, and I previously worked in treatment centres supporting clients with addiction and complex mental health needs. I taught FDSc – Level 3 and TC-L4 in an FE centre before I started my position here at CPCAB.

While I now leave teaching behind me, I am excited to work with established centres and support new tutors in their new careers and new centres setting up their own teaching environments. I look forward to engaging with you and being a source of support to you.

  • Natalie McLeod

Hello, my name is Natalie, and I am pleased to announce I have recently joined the CPCAB team as a CQP. I come from an education background where I was a Curriculum Lead and, in more recent years, had taken on the role of a tutor for the Counselling programme. I am keen to provide support to the centres and tutors who are delivering CPCAB qualifications. I look forward to the opportunity to work with many of you in the near future.

Annual Declarations

We're approaching the deadline for all centres to complete their annual declarations for the new academic year. All declarations should be made via the CPCAB Portal with your first group registration.

  • Centre Finder Preferences

Each year on 1st September, the Portal automatically updates to display all qualifications your centre is approved to deliver on the CPCAB Centre Finder tool.

To ensure the Centre Finder reflects the most accurate information for your centre, please update your Portal record with the qualifications you plan to deliver for the 2025/26 academic year.

You can make these updates via the Admin menu on the Portal, under Centre Finder Preferences.

Annual Document Updates

  • To help you navigate the changes we’ve made following our annual documentation review, we’ve compiled a comprehensive document which clearly outlines all document changes and important updates. This should serve as a reference guide to find out about the changes most relevant to your qualifications and delivery, quickly and easily. More details...

Tutor Clinics

  • Join an Upcoming Tutor Clinic

Our popular ‘Assessment in Action: Reducing the Assessment Burden’ workshop considers whether we can utilise peer assessment and assessment in action to reduce the traditional ‘marking’ function for awarding criteria. If you're yet to attend this Tutor Clinic, we have 2 upcoming event which are now available to book:

    Tuesday 11th November 7 pm - 9 pm
    Friday 12th December 10 am - 12 pm

  • Share Your Feedback About Tutor Clinics

We’ve now run over 20 tutor clinics, supporting more than 200 tutors! For those who have attended, we hope the tools and strategies shared have made a positive difference to your delivery and assessments. We’d love to hear your feedback — please take a couple of minutes to let us know how you’ve implemented ideas from the workshop and how they’ve influenced your teaching practice.

Get Prepared for Upcoming EV Visits

  • New Pre-visit Questionnaire

To support a more collaborative and efficient EV visit, we are introducing a new Pre-visit Questionnaire to be completed in advance of your upcoming visit. This questionnaire has been carefully designed to streamline the process and give you an opportunity to share any questions or concerns with your EV beforehand. Our goal is to ensure that each visit is as meaningful and productive as possible for you and your centre.

Your EV will send you the questionnaire at least four weeks before the scheduled visit and will specify a submission deadline to allow sufficient time for preparation. Completion of this questionnaire is now a mandatory part of the EV Sampling requirements.

  • Sampling Requirements

To ensure the integrity and consistency of assessment standards, please can we remind centres that they must provide all requested candidate samples to their External Verifier. This will support us to:

    · Confirm assessment decisions and ensure they align with qualification standards.
    · Identify any discrepancies or areas for improvement in assessment practices.
    · Support the centre’s continued compliance with awarding body requirements.
    · Facilitate timely certification for candidates by avoiding delays caused by incomplete verification.

We appreciate your providing all the requested samples for your EV visit and your commitment to quality assurance and maintaining the credibility of our qualifications.
