October 2024 Newsletter
We hope you've had a great start to the new academic year and are looking forward to the rest of 2024/25. As this year is now well underway, we're eager to connect you with all the resources and support you need. Plus, we've got plenty of exciting updates to share...
Policy and Guidance Changes

Updates to CPCAB's Malpractice and Maladministration Policy
As part of our annual document changes process, we have recently revised our Malpractice and Maladministration Policy, and wanted to highlight these changes for you.

New Policies and Guidance for Centres
New for this year, we've added some important policies to aid and support tutors.
Important Updates

A Reminder About Changes to External Assessment
We are pleased to hear the positive feedback from centres and candidates about the changes to our assessment strategy for 2024-25 onward. We would like to remind centres that any registrations for groups starting from the 1st of September will include the version of the qualification without an External Assessment. You will notice that when registering new groups, there is no longer the option on the Portal to select an EA date. When it comes time to log your final results, you will simply need to input your Internal Assessment results as usual.
Centres wanting to ensure their Internal Assessment process is robust and transparent can use the new enhanced Self-Reviews, and our updated Guidance Booklet provides useful information on the handling of internal assessment appeals.
Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.

Annual Declaration of Compliance
Please can we remind all centres to complete and sign their annual declarations of compliance via the CPCAB portal as soon as possible. Ideally, all declarations should be completed no later than the end of October.
Should you require any support in completing your declaration, please contact us on contact@cpcab.co.uk and one of the Qualification Administration team will be happy to help.
Staying Connected

Our New Phone System
To help you speak to a member of CPCAB more quickly, we've simplified our phone system.

Receiving Emails from CPCAB
We want to make sure you're made aware of all important updates as they happen, so we're making some changes to how we send you emails.

Tutor Community Facebook Group
If you're not already a member of our Tutor Community Private Facebook Group, then get signed up for support and resources in preparation for the new academic year.
The CPCAB Tutor Community group is a safe, supportive space for CPCAB tutors to engage with one another and with CPCAB. We encourage Tutors to use this space to network, ask questions and share teaching experiences.
The group is a great place to share ideas on all areas of the delivery and assessment of CPCAB qualifications.

Become an External Verifier with CPCAB
We have an exciting new opportunity for any CPCAB tutors, current or retired from teaching, to join our expanding team of External Verifiers (EVs). We are currently looking for interested tutors to cover our centres in Devon and Cornwall.
News and Events

In-person Tutor Standardisation
Alongside our remote standardisation sessions we offer three in-person sessions each year. These are an excellent opportunity to meet the CPCAB team and to learn from and network with other tutors.
There's still space available for our final in-person event of the year! Our Bristol event will be taking place in March.

CPD Supervision Workshop
Our upcoming workshop is designed to prepare tutors to deliver and manage case discussion groups for Level 3 counselling trainees.
With an early bird discount available until 13th November, there's no better time to book your place!

Support for Tutors
Our Counselling Qualification Professionals are always finding new resources to support tutors delivering CPCAB qualifications. Tutor Guides (Notes for Tutors) for the new academic year have links to some great new resources!
